Inox decorato e rigidizzato… due termini apparentemente simili, ma che in realtà identificano due prodotti con marcate differenze di metodologia di produzione ed esecuzione. Cerchiamo di mettere a fuoco questi termini e relativi prodotti.
Si possono definire “rotoli/lamiere decorati” tutti quei prodotti che presentano su una sola superficie, generalmente quella definita superiore, un disegno o da un decoro, che su essa viene impresso tramite un processo meccanico.
La superficie inferiore della lamiera o del coils nel prodotto decorato non viene interessata dalla formatura a freddo che genera questo decoro sull’altra superficie .
In pratica avremo una superficie con il disegno o decoro cercato, mentre avremo la faccia inferiore quasi liscia.
I materiali decorati sono i seguenti e si indicano con le sottoscritte terminologie correnti :
- TELA DI LINO, LINEN, che assomiglia alla trama di una tela;
- QUADRO E DAMA, SQUARES AND CHECKS, con la variante inclinata ROMBO, RHOMBOIDS;
- FINTA PELLE, 12LG, riconducibile a un ingrandimento della pelle/cuoio

La metodologia per ottenere questi prodotti consiste nel laminare il coils in finitura 2B/BA, tipico della produzione dell’acciaieria, mediante un laminatoio di finitura tipo “Skinpass”, caratterizzato da due grossi cilindri di cui uno,quello superiore, è stato preventivamente lavorato per avere in risalto il disegno voluto.
Questi prodotti hanno riscontrato l’immediato interesse del settore ascensoristico, che li ha utilizzati per la realizzazione di cabine ed elevatori. Questa particolare attenzione al prodotto decorato, non è priva di fondamento, ma si basa sulla valorizzazione di una caratteristica di questo prodotto, cioè quella di essere molto resistente all’usura superficiale provocata da graffi o incisioni, realtà da non sottovalutare in un mezzo ad un così alto e frequente utilizzo da parte di una vasta utenza. Infatti è stato confermato da studi di mestiere che una superficie non liscia, ma con fondo a disegno uniforme e costante, scoraggia atti di gratuito vandalismo.
Ciò che realmente distingue l’Inox rigidizzato dall’Inox decorato non è la superficie di contatto con l’esterno, che appare ugualmente decorata, ma quella inferiore che presenta lo stesso disegno di quella superiore impresso in negativo.
Il processo di produzione è sempre realizzato con due cilindri, ma a differenza del decorato nell’Inox rigidizzato le superfici sono entrambe incise per realizzare di fatto un incastro del disegno tra cilindro inferiore e cilindro superiore.
Questa particolare laminazione, che può essere eseguita sia su coils sia su lamiere di fatto produce una modifica delle caratteristiche meccaniche del materiale per effetto della nervatura della superficie che determina un maggiore rigidità. Da cui il nome Inox rigidizzato, con conseguente maggiore resistenza meccanica del prodotto. Naturalmente le caratteristiche di resistenza superficiale tipiche del decorato vengono amplificate .

DECORATED AND RIGIDIZED: A COMPARISON OF MATERIALS.
Inox decorated and Inox rigidized… two terms appear to be similar, but in fact they identify two products with are marked by differences in production’s methods and execution. We try to focus on these terms and related products.
You can define “rolls decorated” all those products that present on one surface, usually the one defined above, a drawing or a decoration, that is printed by a mechanical process.
The lower surface of the sheet or of the coils in the decorated product is not affected by cold forming that generates this pattern on the other surface.
Praticaly we will have a surface with the design or decoration expected, while we will have the lower face almost plain.
The decarated materials are as follows and are indicated with the current terminology:
• LINEN, which resembles the plot of a linen fabric;
• SQUARES AND CHECKS, Swith the variant inclined RHOMBOIDS;
• ARTIFICIAL LEATHER, 12LG, due to an enlargement of the skin / scalp.
The methodology for obtaining these products consists in laminating the coils in finish 2B/BA, typical of the production of the steel, by means of a finishing mill type “skinpass”, characterized by two large cylinders of which one, the upper one, has been previously machined due to have the design requested.
These products have found the immediate interest of the elevators’ industry, which used them for the realization of cabins and elevators. This attention to the product decorated is not without foundation, but it is based on the exploitation of a feature of this product, which is to be very resistant to surface wear caused by scratches or cuts. It has been confirmed by studies that a rough surface, with a uniform and costant design on the bottom, discourages acts of vandalism free.
What really distinguishes the Inox decorated from the Inox rigidized is not the surface of contact with the outside, which appears equally decorated, but the lower one that has the same design of the upper embossed in negative.
The production process is always realized with two cylinders, but, unlike the decorated, the Inox rigidized’s surfaces are both etched to realize an interlocking of the drawing between the lower cylinder and the upper cylinder.
This particular lamination that can be performed on coils or sheet metal, in fact produces a modification of the mechanical characteristics of the material due to the surface which determines a higher rigidity, from which the name Inox rigidized, resulting an improvement of the mechanical strength of the product.
Naturally the characteristics of surface resi stance, typical of decorated, are amplified.
